Joy in the Priesthood

Priests: Joys and Sorrows of the Ordained Ministry

To become a priest is not so much difficult but how to live as a priest is. In the same manner, the human aspect of priests remains even after having been ordained so we cannot expect that he is immune from all temptations. In spite of all his struggles in life, we must always remember that he has enough grace from God to make him strong and live the priestly life. He can resist the urges of the flesh that continue to reside in his very nature as a human being. He has a lot of reasons to be happy in his ministry for Christ chose him (Priest) to be His representative. For this reason alone we cannot deny that there is happiness in the priesthood.

Pope Francis is indeed a living example for us on what it means to be happy in the priesthood. He has shown how he has gone through the challenges in his ministry yet became victorious against the things that have threatened his priestly calling. Now as seminarian in this new age that full of challenges have enough reason to be brave and not to be afraid to continue in responding God's call for the Grace of God is good enough for us to resist temptations. Go go go go go go go seminarians!

Love transcends

Amor Vincit Omnia

Reflection:

After my graduation in High School my mother asked me what courses do I like to take up and she added if ever I want to become a priest they will brought me in the seminary ( my mom got that idea because I once an altar boy during my Elementary years). As I responded to what she said, I simply said No! And I told her that what I want, “I want to become a pilot someday”. Upon hearing my desire, mom told me that they don’t have enough money for my course. My father is just a simple employee of BOHECO 1, his compensation is just enough to sustain us in our daily needs. But their inevitable love for us prevails as they sent me to college not that pilot thing but at least related to an aircraft. Moreover, they keep on telling me to be good and finish my study because being in college involve a lot of money. It’s a great wager! but still they dare because they love us so much their children.

Parents did everything not for their own sake but for their children. it's a typical Filipino settings to see that parent are in debts just to sustain their children in school. How heroic and noble is their deeds for they love their children so much. They will do everything unconditionally for their love for us is authentic and nothing could compare of. Parents did  a lot of sacrifices to see their children happy  and secure. In the same manner, our Father in Heaven love us so much beyond compare. "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him" (John 3:17). This shows how God made the initiative to save us and to draw us back to him even to the extent that He sent His only Son as a Sacrifice just for us sinners. What a great Love for us to ponder about. Just imagine if God doesn't love us sinners. What would happen to us mankind? Since from the very first man enter into this world had been engaged already into sin. How defiant are we in His will for we always broke His heart because of our sin. However, God never abandoned us for  He continue to Love us and invite us to share His happiness always. Amen!
